Party Pros: Contract Points for Videographers

Hooray! You've found a videographer and asked all the right questions, now booking his or her services is just a phone call -- and signed contract -- away. But wait! Before you put pen to paper, double-check your contract for inclusion of the following points:

[ ] Name and contact information for you and the videographer

[ ] Correct date(s), exact number of hours, starting time(s), and locations where the videographer will work, with exact addresses

[ ] Name of the videographer(s) who will shoot your event and the number of assistants

[ ] Number and kind(s) of cameras to be used

[ ] In the event of equipment failure, a guarantee that a backup camera will be on hand

[ ] Number of videos you'll receive, and complete package details

[ ] Date your unedited video will be ready

[ ] Date you'll receive your finished, edited video plus its approximate length

[ ] Total cost (itemized if possible)

[ ] Overtime fee, if applicable

[ ] Reorder prices, if you decide to order additional videos later

[ ] Deposit amount due

[ ] Balance amount and date due

[ ] Cancellation and refund policy

[ ] Videographer's signature

[ ] Clarify any special instructions such as people and events the videographer must catch on tape, interview questions you'd like him or her to ask (plus who he should ask), and any special songs or specific effects you want to be added during editing.
