Ice Breakers/Games To Start At The Beginning Of The Party

Sure, the bachelorette’s sister knows her friends from work, but does Suzie, the groom’s best friend’s sister’s uncle’s daughter’s friend's cousin know all of the bridesmaids? I don’t think so. You’ll need some of these getting-to-know-you games to get your guests chatting and comfortable with each other.

Say My Name Icebreaker
This is a great way to start the bridal shower or bachelorette party if you have a lot of guests that don't know each other. Have each guest stand up and say her first name along with something they love corresponding with the first letter in her name. For example, someone could say," My name is Tina and I love tulips." The next guest then has to stand up and say "My name is Cori and I love cats, and her name is Tina and she loves tulips." Needless to say, it gets quite confusing but at least the guests will be laughing together!

First Kiss
Everyone remembers their first kiss. The bride should start by telling the story of the first time she and her fiancé kissed. Each guest can then tell their own story of their first kiss with their husband or boyfriend. Then, everyone can vote on the most romantic story and the funniest!

I NEVER
The first person starts out with a true statement (“I’ve never kissed a priest before”) and anyone that HAS done whatever the person says is required to drink or to throw in (pennies, candies, or whatever you decide to use. Each guest should start out with the same amount of items). The person with the most items left wins. This is a funny game!

Necklace Game
Each guest that comes to the shower gets a necklace. You can use Penis Leis or Mardi Gras Beads. Everyone wears their necklace until it is taken away by another guest. You lose your necklace by saying the either the bride or groom’s names. You may only refer to them as the "bride" or the "groom.” The guest with the most necklaces at the end of the night wins.

Stick it!
When everyone is seated you pass out stickers to each guest. After everyone has a sticker on her shirt the game begins. Nobody is allowed to say the bride’s name or cross their legs or ankles. Any person who catches another person violating the rules gets her sticker. The person with the most stickers at the end of the party wins.

Hanging Out To Dry
Each visitor is given a clothespin upon arrival at shower. They are told of two words they can not mention (i.e. "wedding", and the groom's name). If they utter those magical words, they lose their clothespin(s) to the one who caught them doing so. The one who has the most clothespins at the end of the day, wins the prize!

Secret Word
Before the guests arrive, tell the bride-to-be a secret word. For example, the secret word can be “nervous.” When guests arrive, let them know that whoever is the first to use the secret word in conversation with the bride-to-be is the winner. When someone asks her, “Are you nervous?” that guest will get a prize.
