This entertainer brings over 30 years of experience in the music industry to his diverse performances of Reggae and Island music. He toured the United States for five years performing concerts sponsored by the Jamaica Tourist Board while his recording, “Woman A Genal” was a number-one hit in Jamaica. This versatile performer has an active Fan Club and over 25 albums to his credit. BOLIVAR, Composer, Arranger, Singer and Multi-Instrumentalist. 1970 - Started his musical career in Jamaica - singing and playing drums with the “Gospel Light Band.” Went on to form and lead his own band - “Pastel Black,” which performed mainly in Kingston. 1972-74 - Released two singles from his own recording studio - WOMAN A GENAL, which went to No. 1 on the Jamaican charts, and MAN A 1975 - Released his first L.P. - BOLIVAR. 1977-82 - Marked his debut as a solo act. Performed for long runs at: Coconut Cove Hotel (Negril), Negril Beach Club, Negril Beach Village, Devon House (Kingston), Montego Bay Club, Runaway Bay Hotel, Jamaica Hilton, Shaw Park Hotel, The Americana (Ocho Rios), San Souci (Ocho Rios) and The Oceana (Kingston). Released two more albums ONE MAN SHOW and MOONLIGHT and promoted each with a Jamaican Television (JBC) special. Co-produced recordings with Chicago producer, Harry Brotman and released a popular single DON’T TAKE MY ONLY CHILD AWAY. 1983 - Built Chalet Studio in Jack’s Hill, Jamaica and recorded his fourth album, NIGHT AND DAY. Began what became a series of promotional tours with Air Jamaica and the Jamaica Tourist Board. Performed in numerous U.S. cities and in Canada. 1984 - Performances at Coconuts Lounge, Key Largo. Excellent reviews. Became a household name in Kingston because of his consistently sold-out shows at Mingles Night Club, at the Courtleigh Hotel. 1986 - Regular shows at the Lani Kai Resort, Ft. Myers Beach. Released popular album - LIVE AT THE LANI KAI. 1986-90 - Regular performances at Coconuts Lounge, Key Largo. Released four more albums: SOME PEOPLE LIKE COCONUT, YELLOW BIRD, KEY LARGO EVENING VOLUME ONE and KEY LARGO EVENING VOLUME TWO. 1990-91 - Performances at the Lorelei in Islamorada and the Italian Fisherman in Key Largo. 1991 - Released his first international album HAPPY ISLAND STORIES. He also released his first Christmas album, IRIE ISLAND CHRISTMAS. Hosted his own weekly radio show, the “Bolivar Reggae Break” on “SUN 103 FM” and subsequently on “Catch FM” the two most popular Florida Keys radio stations. 1992 - Regular performances at the Quay Beach Club in Key Largo and at Williams Island, Miami, where he performed for two years. Released his twelfth album, MEMORY LANE … excellent reviews. Released CONCERT BY THE BAY, a music video of a live performance at the Quay. 1993 - With the continuing success and demand for his Island flavored music, Bolivar produced his thirteenth album, ISLAND. Many claim this to be his best produced work to date. Cuts from this album are still featured on the Digital Music Channels. 1994 - Released another album, ISLAND MADNESS, adding a Soca flavor to his music . 1995-2004 - Bolivar continues to refine and hone his craft while recording several more albums, including: ISLAND FEVER, REGGAE JAMMIN’, RIVERS OF BABYLON, MAGIC MOMENTS, THESE ISLANDS, ESSENTIAL REGGAE, BOLIVAR SINGS MARLEY, EVOLUTION and remakes of three earlier releases. |
