LT

In French History, LT or “Lieutenant” was a title borne by the officer sent with military powers to represent the king in certain provinces. I, Saydel Mas, the individual whom you will be reading about below will demonstrate how I have earned this title in more than just a military sense. Saydel Mas or as I will refer to myself for all future entertainment purposes “LT” is a performance name that I have earned not only for my music but also for my absolute essence of courage, creativity and leadership.

I was born in Havana, Cuba on July 29, 1979 and relocated to Miami, Florida when I was six. I lived and grew up in Miami just like many other Cuban kids whom family’s escaped Fidel Castro’s tyranny over the Spanish island. But my life didn’t go as planned like many others.

At the age of 16, I lost my parents due to a catastrophic event within my family. During the summer of 1996, my father murdered my mother and then took his own life. All that I had known for my short life had been gone and all that was left remaining for me was just feelings of shock, disgrace and tragedy. I would tell anyone with no hesitation that my parents loved me with all their heart. But the love/hate relationship between them was always something I had to live with as I grew up.

That horrific incident did change my life but I didn’t let it take over my life. Actually, I believe it made me stronger and more mature. I realized I had to put my tragic past behind me and with the support of certain family, friends and most of all God I kept walking closer to my calling.

Focusing on my future, I kept going to school and graduated from Miami Senior High in 1997. I then went on to Miami-Dade College where I got my Associate of Arts in Communications. Nearing the time I was about to graduate from College, I enlisted in the Florida Army National Guard. Straight from the street like anyone else, I took the option to go through Basic training and go directly to OCS or Officer Candidate School. After a 3-year run of sweat and hard work I graduated OCS and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. Now you know another part of why Lieutenant or LT is my performance name. During my time in the Army National Guard, I also attended Florida International University and worked at the Miami-Dade County School Board. I had many tasks to overcome at the same time but luckily a Lieutenant has to be good under pressure and I was.

Consequently, being good under pressure was not my only strength. Through all my hard times, my inspiration to write poetry and music just magnified. Yes! I freestyled for fun, I danced for fun, I made music for fun but deep down I always had a feeling. I noticed that my passion for music had always kept me in motion. A lot of people noticed that for my young age I had lived through a lot of things and I was a positive influence with my talents. Late in 2002, the father of my girlfriend also noticed there was someone that he worked with that had the same drive for music as me. A musician named Fradel Delgarde or “Stonar”, a young man who derives from Haiti. And that’s how it started! Stonar and LT together, we formed BbS.

I believe that our time to rise up is coming soon. I believe that my title came about for a reason. That God has sent me to earth so that I can reach many people and make them dance, sing, love and have fun together.

Whether in the club, in the car, at home or even at work I want our music to be heard and loved. A flavor and sound from two different worlds that brings unity and peace to all. I know God has sent me to represent him and he has given me the talent to be able to reach everyone with our music. LT and Stonar are BbS. This is how we gonna do! We BbS we coming through!

Stonar

I am Stonar who is the most gorgeous artwork of the universe made of Star and Stone before the explosion of Big Band Theory many centuries ago.

I came from the most precious Island, naming Haiti where I was fortunate enough to have a loving family. In fact, I have been addicted to music since I was in my mom’s womb to listen to my dad’s sound playing trumpet and saxophone .And, Growing up, music has been my greatest passion, as wanting to be recognized and listed in the Book Of Art of the most valuable songwriters. Obviously, I got exposed to the greatest talented musicians at an early age who I admired very much watching them play in many places. In addition, After graduating from High

School, I went to Florida International University Just to earn my Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice Administration without cutting back on my music. To illustrating, I used to write songs for my friends who mostly sang in church until they asked me to join their band, “Divine Sound”. Then, It did not take us so long to release our first Album 10 Millions dollar or Jesus. Three years later, the members of Divine Sound had split up to move to different States. However, I went solo for a while until I released my Creole Album title: Ki –Devise-Nou? I had performed to many social events like Black History and Jews Holiday at Miami Dade Community College, FIU, Caleb Center, at the churches and also at many clubs. I believe that God sent me into the world to accomplish his mission in which I will spread love and joy through music.

To pursuit with my music career, LT and I Had met through his father in law to form our group of BbS. I have worked very hard and searched a lot to come with a unique style that most people can relate to. For instance, I devote my time to recycle and to put many soundtracks together just to be known as the founder of Compa Hip-Pop. My music is entertaining, enjoyable and has an identity reflecting on real life that can touch the soul of people of all ages. Most of them base on facts, for my dream is to make you feel what I have felt. They are composed of metaphor and images that bring beauty to the songs. For instance, I use music to bring solace into ones’ lives and to educate the public. I love doing it, for it allows me to express my feeling freely. I have learned new tricks every day to update my skills so that I can be more sharp holding a mic on stage. I, Stonar consider my microphone as a dangerous weapon, and this is why I refuse to let it go killing the crowd with my dynamic rhythm on stage. LT and I are the future of the new Compa hip hop era that will be here for many years to come. Especial fans, I would like you to keep checking our webpage just to be accustomed with the amazing songs that will blast your world someday. Stonar says “Big up” and keeps the peace alive. here!
